man in Masindi has committed suicide after he brutally murdered his wife.

Available
information obtained by Uganda Radio Network-URN indicates that the couple
picked up a quarrel on Thursday night for unknow reasons and in the process, Mugisa
picked a panga and severally hacked Katwesige on the head and neck killing her
instantly. He later carried the body and dumped it in a cassava garden.
After
killing his wife, Mugisa reportedly committed suicide by drinking a substance
suspected to be poison.His body too was found lying alongside his
wife’s body in the same cassava plantation.
Patrick
Akugizibwe, the Bisaju Village LCI Vice Chairperson, told Uganda Radio Network
in an interview that the couple has been having misunderstandings in their
marriage for long and he suspects these misunderstandings could have
led to the murder and suicide.
Rogers
Agaba, a resident, explains that their bodies were discovered in a nearby
cassava plantation by residents on Friday evening.
They later alerted the
police who swung into action and rushed to the crime scene.
Julius
Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the incident, saying that police rushed to the crime scene, picked the bodies that were later conveyed
to Masindi general hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
