Almost half of the Mbale municipal councilors skipped the state of the municipal address delivered by the mayor on Wednesday.
The State of municipal address is delivered by the mayor to highlight his accomplishments in the last 12 months, present legislative proposals and policy directions to councilors, technocrats and members of the public.
Only 18 of the 32 councilors and the deputy town clerk attended the address by the Mayor, Mutwalib Zandya Mafabi. Even the councilors who attended the address kept moving in and out.

In his speech, the Mayor Mutwalib Zandya Mafabi listed the installation of solar street lights, digitalized traffic lights, beautification of the town and grading all roads in the municipality as some of his priority areas this financial year.
