The City speaker Bonny Tashobya Karushaya says that they have queries on most
roads under construction that include Katamba Road, 5.3 km Nyakayojo, Karengye,
Kishojwa roads, and Kiboroga road noting that the works committee was not given
Bills of Quantities.
also accuse the engineering department of working in isolation without council
approval. Other queries raised by the leaders include amending the road fund
budget and recruiting three more staff without following the right procedures.

office of the engineering department currently has no workers since most of
them are either on leave or are on interdiction, which has affected service

Asiimwe, the City Councilor representing workers says the heads of department
have disrespected the council’s recommendations. She also accuses the engineer of altering the
road fund budget.

Engineer Merina Kekijusyo refused to comment referring the reporter to the City
When contacted John Behagana Matama, the Mbarara City Clerk was hesitant to
comment, on the matter. He, however, said that he will follow up on the complaints
against the engineering department.
