The Ministry of Education has revised the requirements for the online teacher registration.

According to the revised guidelines, the teachers are now required to have a national identity card and certified copies of academic documents before they can register on the Teacher Management Information System-TMIS.

Under the revised guidelines, teachers registering as grade three teachers will now have to submit; a copy of ‘O’ level pass slips or equivalent, certified copies Grade III pass slips and a national Identity card.

In case a teacher does not have a national identity card, they can use photocopies of a National Identification Regulatory Authority-NIRA registration form, which is proof that they are in a process of acquiring an ID.

Bernard Egesa, a teacher at Kitante Primary School says the new requirements make registration easier than it was before.

“Some of us went to school more than fifteen years ago. In the process, we have shifted to many houses. We no longer even know where our IDs are.", Egesa says.
