Ministry Of Health: We are Prepared In Case Of Ebola Virus

The Health Ministry has said they are on the highest alert ever of Ebola Virus Disease EVD as the outbreak enters the fourth month and case numbers surpass 300 in the Democratic Republic of Congo DRC.
The Health Ministry has said they are on the highest alert ever of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) as the outbreak enters the fourth month and case numbers surpass 300 in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Ever since the Ebola Outbreak, the Ministry of Health in DRC has so far registered 329 Cumulative cases, 294 Confirmed cases and a total of 205 deaths.The areas mostly affected are Ituri and North Kivu.

The Ministry of Health says Uganda has been preparing and beefing up health facilities in the borders, training health workers, and also putting vehicles to transport samples.

According to Joyce Moriku Kaducu, the Minister of State for Primary health care, there is no confirmed case of Ebola in Uganda. She says together with partners, they are ensuring to screen and manage any identified suspected cases in specially established Ebola Treatment Centers (ETU).

Kaducu who was giving a statement during plenary on Tuesday said the ministry completed an assessment of all the national border districts with DR Congo and prioritized them into high risk, moderate risk and low risk districts, adding that this is in addition to Kampala and Wakiso district including the Entebbe international airport.

She said they have assessed the risk in the country and categorized districts as high risk with direct links with affected health zones as  Ntoroko, Kasese, Kabarole, Rukungiri, Bundiburyo, Bunyangabu, Kanungu, Kisoro, Rubirizi, Kikuube, and Hoima among others.
