Michael Odongo, East Kyoga region police spokesperson confirmed to URN on Thursday that the police picked the body found dumped at Ararak B cell in Kaberamaido town council.
Odongo explains that the postmortem report released from Kaberamaido Health Centre IV indicates that the girl was gang raped on Tuesday night leading to her death.
“The Information gathered is that this young girl had gone to visit as people enjoyed the Independence celebrations. When she was going back home late in the night she must have met boys who gang raped her and later killed her,” said Odongo.
Odongo has urged the general public to provide information to police to help with investigations into the gruesome murder.
Jimmy Ebill, Kaberamaido Resident District Commissioner (RDC) says as chairman of the district security committee, he has called for an extra ordinary security meeting on Saturday to discuss issues of the appalling security with the area local council chairpersons.
“This is a serious security matter which we as Kaberamaido leaders are not taking lightly. We are seating on Saturday to discuss security related issues in Kaberamaido town council.” said Ebil.
He also noted that they have been reported cases of petty theft of property and livestock in villages across the entire district.
