Kihereza's disappearance raised concern after he went missing from his home on Friday last week under unclear circumstances. Worried about his absence, his family promptly reported the matter to Kakumiro police, who, along with local residents, initiated a search operation.
A man who had gone
missing in Kakumiro has turned up dead. The deceased has been identified as
Yoram Kihereza, 56, a resident of Kyakijuuto village in Kisiita sub-county.
Kihereza's disappearance raised concern after
he went missing from his home on Friday last week under unclear
circumstances. Worried about his absence, his family promptly reported the
matter to Kakumiro police, who, along with local residents, initiated a search
operation.
However, the search ended on Sunday evening at
around 4 p.m. when Kihereza's lifeless body was found lying in a maize
plantation in the same area. Ruth Komushani, the deceased's wife, revealed that
her husband had left home without informing them where he was headed.
She says
that the sudden loss of her husband has left the entire family in shock. Julius Hakiza, the
Albertine region police spokesperson, says that the police promptly retrieved
the body and transported it to Kisiita Health Center III for a postmortem
examination.
Upon examination, the body exhibited signs of bruising on the
neck, suggesting that Kihereza might have been strangled to death by his
assailants. Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
