Mob Kills Six Suspected Thieves in Paidha Town Council

Police in Zombo district are investigating the multiple murder case by mob action of a whopping 6 people. The angry mob also set ablaze several houses in Cana village, Omua Ward, in Paidha Sub County of Zombo District last week.

The deceased are Kabalye Tekakwo 31, Muzamil James Jembe 30, Oryema David male adult, Cobidongo 26yrs, Aziz 35 and one Okunya 26, all residents of Paidha Town Council and Nyapea Sub County in Zombo district.

It is alleged that Mubanga Stephen,  a businessman in Paidha Town Council, Zombo District was stabbed by the deceased persons who took off with an unspecified amount of money from him.

In response fellow businessmen mobilized and killed the six suspected hard core criminals who are believed to have been terrorizing Paidha town council in the past.

Angucia Josephine police spokesperson for West Nile/North West Nile regions said a team of Police detectives from Paidha Police Station visited the scene of crime, recorded statements from witnesses and the bodies were taken to Paidha Health Centre III for postmortem before handing them over to relatives for burial.

Angucia said police arrested two youths identified as Jakisa James 17, and Waswa Hassan 18, to assist with investigations, adding that the majority of suspects are still at large as inquiries continue under Paidha SD reference CRB 52/202.

She advised youths to desist from acts of criminality but instead engage in more productive income generating activities.

Angucia urge the community to hand over suspected thieves to police so that they are handle by the law, as mob action is unlawful.

According to article 188 of the penal code act, any person who with malice aforethought causes the death of another person by an unlawful act or omission commits murder and shall be sentenced to death as maximum punishment.
