A mob in Kaberamaido district has lynched a 45-year-old man on allegations of killing his wife.

The deceased, Richard Ewila 45, a resident of Ominai ‘A' village in Alwa Sub County, was lynched on Tuesday by a mob for allegedly killing his wife Christine Ajiko aged 35.

Ajiko disappeared mysteriously 10 days ago and her body was found on Tuesday morning found dumped in a pit latrine at Ewila's home.

Michael Odongo, the East Kyoga region police spokesperson, says that residents suspected Ewila to have killed Ajiko.

“The relatives of Ajiko had reported the case of her disappearance at Kaberamaido Central Police Station and they have been tracing for her until today when they moved to Ewila's home and discovered her body,” Odongo said.

Odongo explains that police arrived late to rescue Ewila from the angry mob. The mob also burnt Ewila's two houses.

Jimmy Ebil, the Kaberamaido Resident District Commissioner urged clan leaders in the district to mediate in family wrangles.
