Armed robbers on Wednesday shot a mobile money agent in Gulu City.

The unidentified attackers stormed the business premises at around 8:30 p.m. and shot Charles Mutabazi, and fled with an unspecified amount of money.

Motorcycle riders who operate near the premises tried to pursue the robbers but they shot in the air to scare them away.

According to Fiona Oyella, an eyewitness, the robbers entered Mutabazi’s shop as he was preparing to leave.

David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson says that police from Gulu Central Police Station rushed to the scene and recovered an AK47 gun, magazine, one live ammunition, and two cartridges.

He says that security personnel have intensified a search for the robbers.

Meanwhile, the police in Oyam District are investigating circumstances under which a suspected thief was shot and injured by a private security guard from the SOGEA construction site in Kamdini.

The suspect Jasper Atigo reportedly accessed the construction site through the fence with the intention to steal.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Police Spokesperson said that investigations into the matter have commenced.
