Male students of Moroto High School have boycotted lessons and rejected school meals in protest of maladministration and the poor conditions of the school structures. Many of them opted to remain in their dormitories since yesterday and several others are seen sparsely seated around the school compound.

The students are contesting the absence of teachers, dilapidated school structures and food that they describe as 'bitter stuff'. They are now demanding that the current headteacher of the school, Fr John Bosco Kutegena be transferred for running down the school.

Some of the students who talked to URN on condition of anonymity fault management for failing to maintain teachers under PTA. They also want the school to be investigated especially on some of the projects undertaken recently.

"Our parents have been contributing money for the construction of the new dormitory but up to now, we are still sleeping in a dilapidated structure. This building can collapse anytime and we don't want to be victims", they said.

Robert Wuubo, the only school administrator who was available at the time of our visit to the school told our reporter that the students' attitude changed after meals on Wednesday night when they openly attacked their leaders over the quality of food they were subjected to.

But Wuubo said no money had been realized for the renovation of the dormitory from PTA. "It's true that parents, in an AGM last year agreed to contribute 5,000 Shillings every term, but not a single parent has paid that money. We are still hopeful that parents will respond this year for us to renovate the dormitory", he said.

More than 50 million Shillings was raised for the construction of the dormitories at Moroto High School during the Golden Jubilee celebration for the school in 2015. During the function, President Yoweri Museveni donated 60 million Shillings for the rehabilitation of old structures at school.

The Chairperson of the School's Board of Governors Paul Abul acknowledged that a number of issues needed to be addressed in the school.
