Dr. Olaro was addressing stakeholders in Soroti after a section of leaders in Teso protested the transfer of Dr. Wakmon to Soroti. Before the handover, there was heavy security deployment at the hospital following reports that some people had planned to protest the transfer.

Prior to the public handover, security heads including the Police, Soroti Resident City Commissioner, Peter Pex Paak, and the top hospital management were locked up in a closed-door meeting to harmonize issues. The meeting that took almost three hours finally led to the ceremonial handover, which was attended by a couple of staff and local leaders.

Moses Attan Okia, the Soroti East MP, and Mike Odongo L’Asio, the Ngora District Chairperson were in attendance accompanied by the NRM Mobilizer for Teso Sub Region, Teddy Acham. In her speech, Acham said that they were concerned with the deployment of the new director after receiving unfriendly reports from Moroto.

Without divulging details, Acham said that they are ready to work with the new director under close supervision.
