MP's Impounded Vehicle Released

The car registration number UAZ 523F was seized within Iganga town last month, where Naigaga had gone to attend an event, following a report filed by one Tabitha Minsa, indicating that the same vehicle was used to rob her 45 million outside Centenary bank, Bugiri branch early this year.
Police in Bugiri have released a saloon car belonging to the Namutumba district Woman Member of Parliament, Mariam Naigaga after she agreed to record a police statement. 

The car registration number UAZ 523F was seized within Iganga town last month, where Naigaga had gone to attend an event, following a report filed by one Tabitha Minsa, indicating that the same vehicle was used to rob her 45 million outside Centenary bank, Bugiri branch early this year.

Sources within police reveal that Naigaga was contacted over the matter since early March, and she failed to cooperate only to be forced to surrender the car while attending an event in Iganga district last month. 

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity told URN that, Naigaga agreed to cooperate with police during the investigations.

  “She recorded a statement with police and committed to cooperate before speeding off with her car,” he says. 

Naigaga on her part told journalists that, she had been cleared and the car was handed back to her without any charges but refused to divulge more details.

  “My car was handed back to me, and it was cleared, so I can drive it freely,” she says. 

However, James Mubi, the Busoga East Police Spokesperson says that investigations are still on-going and the file will be referred to the State Attorney.

  “We have not stopped investigating this matter, and our teams are still on ground, and when our file is complete, which shall refer it to the state attorney for perusal and legal advice,” he says.
