Provisional results from some polling stations indicate that DP candidate for Masaka municipality, Mathias Mpuuga is slightly leading NRM candidate Herman Ssentongo.

Mpuuga told URN that provisional results from Nyendo Ssenyange division and Katwe-Butego division show that they have won 75% of the polling stations.

DP members claim that they have only lost at three polling stations identified as Liberations square, Quarter Guard at Kasijagirwa barracks and Sazza A.

Mpuuga says winning in both Nyendo-Ssenyange and Katwe Butego and losing at only three polling station means they are destined for victory.

He says they are tallying results at their parallel center set up at Tropic Inn Hotel.

Mpuuga's supporters stormed the streets this evening and started singing victory songs despite the fact the electoral commission has not yet declared any winner.

Gonzaga Kagumba, Mary Babirye Kabanda's campaign manager also claimed that his candidate has won all sub counties in Masaka district. He said they have also won at Kyamuyimbwa polling station located in Kabonera sub county.

Kagumba identifies some of the sub counties where Kabanda has won are Kyanamukaka, Kyesiiga, Kabonera, Mukungwe and the entire Masaka municipality.

Kagumba says they are celebrating early because they are sure their candidate vying for the Masaka Woman MP seat is only waiting to be declared the winner.

Uganda Radio Network report found Herman Ssentongo with his supporters at Pine Ridge but he declined to speak saying they are still held up in a meeting.

Nathan Nabaasa, the Masaka district returning officer says of the ten polling station whose results he has declared, Mpuuga was leading but asks the supporters of rival candidates to wait for the results.
