Nicholas Musonye, the CECAFA General Secretary told URN at the Albatros Citadel Sahl Hasheesh Resort in Hurghada, Egypt on Tuesday night that the CECAFA executive had met in Egypt and decided that a panel of five people runs tournaments on their behalf.
The Vice President
of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), Justus Mugisha has
been selected on the 5-man committee to organise competitions in the Council of
East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) region.

Musonye, the CECAFA General Secretary told URN at the Albatros Citadel Sahl
Hasheesh Resort in Hurghada, Egypt on Tuesday night that the CECAFA executive
had met in Egypt and decided that a panel of five people runs tournaments on
their behalf.
“We had a
fruitful meeting with the new CECAFA executive Board on Tuesday before the CAF
Awards and deliberated on several issues. The executive Board decided the committee comprising
of five Vice Presidents from different Federations and with help of the Chief
Executive Officer organize the tournaments in the CECAFA Zone,” added Musonye.
Musonye said the new committee
will be put in place before the end of next month so that they start working on
the calender. Kenya FA Vice President Doris Petra Atieno Doris will head the committee, while the other members are; Aimable Habimana (Burundi), Bani Ahmed Eltatih (Sudan),
Justus Mugisha (Uganda) and Djibouti’s Eunice Ali.

Musonye also
pointed out that the 2020 CECAFA calender will kick-off with the Kagame Club
Championship to be hosted by Tanzania. Newly elected CECAFA President Wallace
Karia chaired the CECAFA Executive Board meeting where all members attended.
The nine
tournaments lined up by CECAFA for 2020 are; AFCON U-17 Zonal qualifier (Rwanda),
CECAFA Women’s Senior Challenge Cup (Rwanda), AFCON U-20 Zonal qualifier
(Sudan), CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup (Sudan), CECAFA U-20 Women’s Challenge Cup
(Uganda), CECAFA U-16 Boys Challenge Cup (Djibouti), CECAFA Kagame Club
Championship (Tanzania), CECAFA U-20 Boys Challenge Cup (Burundi) and CECAFA
U-17 Women’s Challenge Cup (Burundi).
