President Museveni has congratulated Joseph Robinette Biden upon his election as the 46th President of the United States of America.

The American voters have chosen Democrats Joe Biden as their 46th president and Kamala Harris as the first female Vice President, ending the term of controversial President and Republican Donald J Trump.

The results which were first called on Friday night saw incumbent Trump reject the outcome from the onset citing fraud especially through the mail-in ballots.

Biden won both the popular and electoral college vote garnering 290 Electoral College votes surpassing the required 270 against Donald Trump’s 214.

A day after Biden’s win was called, President Museveni has taken to social media, congratulating him.

Museveni has previously expressed his love for Trump. When Trump referred to Africa as a shithole continent, Museveni praised him fort talking frankly.

"The Africans need to solve their problems, the Africans are weak." Museveni said at the time.

Museveni says that with its black population of 47.4m people, as well as a large Christian population linked with us by faith, the US could easily be a natural ally of Uganda and Africa.

Museveni said that previous American Presidents have already positively used these linkages by putting in place the African Growth And Opportunity Act that has given 6,500 types of African goods, quota and tax-free access to the USA.

“We salute this policy and hope that President Biden maintains it,"  Museveni says in a tweet.  We, therefore, congratulate the American People on exercising their right by, massively, voting for the candidates of their choice: President Biden and Vice-President Kamala. We congratulate H.E Joseph Bidden for winning both the Popular vote and the Electoral College.”

However President Museveni’s congratulatory message to Biden didn’t go well with some Ugandans who responded negatively to it.  Several alluded to Museveni's has seen six USA presidents retire and six come in.

come and go from 1986. Many on twitter especially posted photos of President Museveni with five US Presidents who are no longer serving urging him to do the same.  Others alluded to America's two term limit and Uganda's which was lifted in 2005.
