In his speech read by the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja,the President Yoweri Museveni eulogized Komuhangi as icon and a strong advocate for gender equality who championed several Initiatives for girls and women.
The Former Nakasongola District Woman Member of Parliament Margaret Komuhangi has been laid to rest.
Komuhangi aged 54 years was lowered in the grave at 5:10 pm on Tuesday at her home located at Walusi village in Migyera town.
Alkar Farook the daughter of Komuhangi narrated to the mourners that her mother complained of stomach pain in August 2024 and she was rushed to Nakasero hospital for diagnosis.
Alkar added that at the hospital, the doctors found a tumour before the situation got worse and the family asked that she be referred abroad for treatment.
She added they rushed her mother to India on 7th November 2024 where the doctors diagnosed her with pancreatic cancer and recommended that she undergo chemotherapy.
Alkar said that Komuhangi died peacefully in the room where they were residing in India.
Alkar said that the family will greatly miss their mother for caring and loving them.

Reverend Canon Geoffrey Muwanguzi the Archdeacon of Ndejje Archdeaconry said she met Komuhangi 47 years ago while at Nakasongola Roman Catholic Primary where she was elected as head girl despite of ''little girl size".
Muwanguzi said that since then Komuhangi has been exemplary in whatever she has done and will be greatly missed.
He thanked Komuhangi's husband Farook Araali for granting her the right to practice her Christian faith.
He asked the family and the residents to emulate Komuhangi's humility and Trust God in whatever they do.
Mourners including Members of Parliament and Cabinet Ministers eulogized Komuhangi for her commitment to service delivery.
The Public Service Minister Muruli Mukasa said that Komuhangi united the people of Nakasongola after she was elected during tensions between Baluuli and Banyankole.
Muruuli described Komuhangi as a good mobiliser, lobbyist and leader whose contribution to the area will never be forgotten.
Rosemary Namayanja the Deputy Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement eulogized Komuhangi as a dedicated leader and loyal party cadre who will be greatly missed.

Museveni said during her tenure Komuhangi spoke against traditional injustices and prejudices against women.
Museveni added that Komuhangi will be remembered as an icon of women in Parliament and emancipation.

Museveni contributed 25 million shillings as condolences towards the family.
Komuhangi aged served as District Woman MP on the National Resistance Movement ticket from 2001 - 2002 before her elections were successfully challenged by former MP Grace Tubwita.
Komuhangi bounced back in Parliament where she served from 2011 to 2021 before she was defeated in general elections.
