President Yoweri Museveni on Friday met the council of elders to discuss issues
of national importance.
In a press statement issued by the Presidential Press Unit,
the meeting was attended by the Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, the
Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, Prime Minister, Ruhakana Rugunda and the
Chief Justice Bart Magunda Katureebe.
Others were the Vice Chairman of the National Resistance Movement,
Hajji Moses Kigongo and the Woman Member of Parliament for Dokolo Cecilia Atim
Ogwal.
“We met as leaders but also as elders to discuss some matters of
national importance,” President Museveni is quoted as saying shortly after the
meeting that was held at State House Entebbe.
Some of the issues discussed included the Coronavirus pandemic,
locusts, floods, and the floating islands that have disrupted some essential
services.
However, the statement doesn’t go into detail of how the members were
