President Yoweri Museveni has again appealed to universities across the country to equip students with relevant skills to the job market, notably in the private sector.

Museveni says there is great need for leaners to adapt to the ever evolving global job demands largely driven by technology and innovations.

This was Museveni’s main message delivered by the prime minister Robinah Nabanja during the 20th graduation ceremony of Uganda Pentecostal university-UPU in Fort Portal Tourism City.

Museveni noted that Uganda needs more professionals to tackle challenges affecting the social wellbeing adding that the NRM government has created a favourable environment for the private sector and young people must be focused on how they can tap into this ever growing sector.

The president gave 20 million shillings’ donation to the university in its drive to put up a new home.

The office of the prime minister also contributed 10 million shillings for the same cause.

The University vice chancellor Peluce Ntabirweki said it would be an immoral act if the graduands waste their lives in trivialities as making academic sacrifices.

She also called for support from government noting that the institution has a huge obligation to put up permanent structures towards securing a charter.

About 450 graduands were awarded degrees, diplomas and certificates in different courses.

UPU was founded in 2005 by the late prof. John Ntambirweki.
