Museveni to Receive Global Peace Award

Milton Kambula, the President Global Peace Foundation Uganda Chapter and Peace Service Ambassador, says they are awarding Museveni for joining the Global conversation for the unification of Korea.

President, Yoweri Museveni is to receive a Global Peace Award at the Upcoming Global Peace Leadership Conference in Kampala next month.

The Global Peace Leadership Conference will run from 1st to 3rd August 2018 at the Common Wealth Resort Hotel Munyonyo.

He says Museveni's display of courage, exemplary, democratic and global leadership makes him a perfect candidate for the award.

The Public Service Minister, Muruli Mukasa, says Museveni deserves the award for his contribution to national, regional and global peace.

He explains that Museveni has fought against dictatorship since his youthful days.

About the Conference

The conference will be held under the theme “Moral and Innovative Leadership (New Models for Sustainable Peace and Development)”.

Participants will discuss new ways to bring about peace across the globe. The discussion shall include a whole range of issues from civil and political conflicts, economic instability, women empowerment, innovations and youth development among others.

The conflict will not discuss the peace process in South Sudan or any specific conflicts. Muruli says at the end the conference participants will issue s peace declaration and adopt an action plan for implementation by different stakeholders.

The conference will draw participants including Politicians, Civil Society Organisations, Religious leaders, Youth innovators, Women community Groups, Media, Policy makers, and Teachers among others.

Key speakers include Dr. Amani A. Karume, the former president of Zanzibar, President Yoweri Museveni and the first lady Janet Kataha Museveni, President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, Salva Kiir from South Sudan and former Nigerian President Chief Olusegun Mathew Obasanjo among others.
