The National Council of Sports has released 250 million shillings to cater for allowances and feeding for the national netball team ahead of the World Cup.

The tournament starts on July 12th to 21st in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

According to NCS, the national team, technical crew and some officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports will each get 5 million shillings.

Although the players had earlier on asked for shillings 26.6 million as allowances per player, the Uganda Netball Federation President, Susan Anek says that NCS and the federation have explained to the team that more funds will be released, when the tournament starts.

Anek explains that NCS had to get an overdraft to secure funds for the team since the team will travel on Friday.

//Cue in "Overdraft. That is...

Cue out:...to get feeding."//

Anek also says that the money is also expected to cater for feeding of the team and crew during the event. She adds that the federation plans to spend at least 220,000 shillings on each individual.

She also wants to follow up on the Ministry of Education for the remaining funds for the event, since the federation had requested for shillings 2 billion for the event.

The team was flagged off on Thursday by the Minister for Education and Sports, Janet Museveni.

The She Cranes are among teams from sixteen countries. They are drawn in Group D alongside the hosts England, Samoa and Scotland.

The Netball World Cup takes place after every four years. The She Cranes have participated in two World Cup editions so far, in 1979 and 2015.

In the 2015, Uganda emerged 8th and has moved two places to sixth position as at the end of last month.  Before the 2015 World Cup, Uganda was ranked 15th.
