New Budget Protective of Average Ugandans-Former Finance Ministers

Three Former Finance Ministers have hailed the new financial year budget.
Dr Ezra Suruma, Gerald Sendaula and Mayanja Nkanji says the new budget,readout this afternoon by Finance minister Syda Bumba is protective of an average Ugandan during the current financial melt down.
While, reading the budget to parliament Finance minister Syda Bumba, said government had not introduced new taxes to help maintain economic stability.
Dr Ezra Suruma who recently handed over to Syda Bumba says it would have been unwise for government to introduce exercise duties at this point in time.

Gerald Sendaula, also a former finance minister in the current government concurred with Suruma.
He said imposing taxes, during the current financial crisis would have affected Ugandans greatly.

According to the finance minister, government will bank on the efficiency of the URA tax collection to finance the 2009/10 budgetary estimates.
However, Mayanja Nkangi also a former finance minister, said to achieve, the objective of the new budget government will need to enforce strict financial discipline and reduce its expenditure.

Uganda Manufacturers' Association Chairperson, James Mulwana, said the new budget is conducive to member of the business community.
He says that as the business community they were particularly happy that taxes had not been imposed on several items.
