New Nebbi Catholic Diocese Bishop Consecrated

Raphael P’ Mony Wokorach has been consecrated as the new Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese.

Wokorach was installed on Saturday by the Archbishop Gulu Archdiocese John Baptist Odama at Nebbi Cathedral Parish Church.

The seat of the Bishop fell vacant two and half years ago after the ordinary Bishop Lino Wanok was transferred to Lira Catholic diocese to succeed Bishop Joseph Franzeli who retired. The diocese was then handed over to a Diocesan Administrator Monsignor Emmanuel Udaga until 31st of March when Pope Francis appointed Wokorach to shepherd the diocese.

The event was earlier scheduled for June 26, but it was postponed due to the second Covid19 pandemic lockdown.

President Museveni in a message delivered by Grace Fredom Kwiwucwiny the Minister of State for Northern Uganda asked religious leaders to take it upon themselves to preach peace and reject all forms of insecurity.

The President also donated a new vehicle for the new Bishop which Kwiwucwiny said will be delivered to the Bishop next week.

Lino Wanok, the former Bishop of Nebbi Diocese, now Bishop Lira Diocese urged the people of Nebbi Diocese to pray without hesitation and support the new bishop.

Bishop Wokorach applauded President Museveni for supporting the Diocese of Nebbi. He also asked the government to work on the bad roads in the area.
