Police in Terego district are holding 9 students of Katrini Secondary School over an attempted strike.

According to Police, the students attempted to strike on Wednesday night following the suspension of 12 of their colleagues over allegations of insulting the head teacher on Tuesday night.

The school head teacher, Sam Egama had reportedly gone to calm students who were making noise in the dormitory at the time when he was verbally insulted.

Out of the those arrested, four of the students are in senior one, three in senior two and two in senior three.

The Police spokesperson for West Nile, Josephine Angucia has confirmed the arrests, saying the affected students were picked up by Police last night at the school.

Angucia however has warned students against strikes which she says are illegal under penal code Act.

But, the school head teacher Sam Egama has dismissed the claims that there was an attempted strike at school since there was even no damage. He noted that the nine students who were arrested were arrested from outside the school compound following the incident.

The attempted strike at Katrini Secondary school came just days after students of St. Joseph’s College Ombaci in Arua City went on strike over the arrest of four of their colleagues following the death of a student.
