Police in Terego district
are holding 9 students of Katrini Secondary School over an attempted strike.
According to Police, the
students attempted to strike on Wednesday night following the suspension of 12
of their colleagues over allegations of insulting the head teacher on Tuesday night.
The school head teacher, Sam
Egama had reportedly gone to calm students who were making noise in the dormitory
at the time when he was verbally insulted.
Out of the those arrested,
four of the students are in senior one, three in senior two and two in senior
The Police spokesperson
for West Nile, Josephine Angucia has confirmed the arrests, saying the affected
students were picked up by Police last night at the school.
Angucia however has warned
students against strikes which she says are illegal under penal code Act.

Sam Egama has dismissed the claims that there was an attempted strike at school since there was even no damage. He noted that the nine students
who were arrested were arrested from outside the school compound following the incident.

The attempted strike at Katrini
Secondary school came just days after students of St. Joseph’s College Ombaci in
Arua City went on strike over the arrest of four of their colleagues following
the death of a student.
