Samuel Bamwole, the Kamuli District National Resistance Movement-NRM Party Chairperson is in trouble for alleged defilement. Bamwole was picked up on Wednesday evening for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 13-year-old girl in August last year.

Michael Kasadha, the Busoga North Region police spokesperson confirmed Bamwole's arrest. "It is true we have Bamwole in our custody. Our investigations are ongoing," he said. According to available information, Bamwole tried luring the minor's family into negotiations in vain.

He reportedly convinced the victim to abort on January 15th, 2019 before he went into hiding. However, police tracked him and picked him up at Crescent medical clinic in Mpumudde in Kimaka division where he had taken the minor for a medical checkup.

The victim is said to be experiencing immense bleeding following the abortion. The victim's father said Bamwole has been threatening his daughter to withdraw her accusations.

"Bamwole has been calling my daughter and instructing her to withdraw the accusations or else risk death. I tasked police to track her phone, which sparked off the arrest last night,” he said.

Bamwole dismissed the defilement allegations leveled against him in an interview with journalists at a Kamuli based hotel before he was picked up. He said although the minor stays in the same neighborhood with him, he has never molested nor defiled her as is being claimed.
