NRM Sweeps Division Mayoral Seats in Hoima City

Robert Ruhigwa, the NRM candidate was announced the winner for Hoima West Division with 6,118 votes defeating his closest rival Fred Kabagyo an independent candidate who polled 3,107 votes.
The National Resistance Movement- NRM party has swept the Hoima East and Hoima West Mayoral seats.

Robert Ruhigwa, the NRM candidate was announced the winner for Hoima West Division with 6,118 votes defeating his closest rival Fred Kabagyo an independent candidate who polled 3107 votes.  Ronald Mugisa of the Alliance for National Transformation-ANT garnered 1,565 votes securing the third position while Jackson Nuwe Amanya who contested on independent ticket came fourth with 670 votes.    

The other candidates were Dan Ssemboza of the National Unity platform-NUP who secured 528 votes. Tom Kategere also an independent candidate polled 321 votes, Woab Mutasingwa of FDC garnered 192 votes while Robert Aheebwa also an independent candidate came last with 112 votes.  

Delivering his victory Speech, Ruhigwa who won the Hoima West division mayoral seat vowed to ensure that his electorate is empowered economically. He too pledged to ensure that his voters get piped water, electricity and also have an improvement in the health sector among others.   
In Hoima East Division, Bosco Muhanuzi polled 3,283 votes defeating seven other candidates Ali Babi an independent candidate who garnered 3,092 while John Baguma also an Independent candidate came third with 1,881 votes. Marvin Asiimwe of the National Unity Platform-NUP came fourth with 1,295 votes while Simona Barongo who contested on independent ticket secured the fifth position after he collected 261 votes.

Other contestants are Matiya Kajura of Uganda People’s Congress-UPC who polled 200 votes, Paul Bakwata of Forum for Democratic Change-FDC who garnered 156 votes while Had Muhumuza of Alliance for National Transformation came last after he polled 67 votes. 

Muhanuzi who won the Hoima East Division Mayoral seat pledged to make the division clean, improve on the road network, health sector and also embrace urban farming.
