Seven of Amama mbabazis supporters escorted from Ntungamo magistrates court room after being denied bail.
Seven supporters of independent presidential candidate, John Patrick Amama Mbabazi have been denied bail by the Ntungamo Grade One Magistrate, Richard Ndangwa.

The magistrate denied suspects bail because he could not ascertain the authenticity of documents the sureties provided.  The sureties had presented their national IDs, passport and a letter from their LCI.

The seven appeared before the Ntungamo Grade One Magistrate this afternoon for the mention of their case and hearing of bail application.

They were represented by Go-Forward lawyers; Onesmus Matsiko and Jonathan Bwogi.

State Prosecutor Jane Musimenta rejected all the fourteen sureties on grounds that they had \"just been picked from the streets of Ntungamo\" and that they did not have any relationship with the accused.

Making the decision to deny bail, Ndangwa said he would study the documents presented  by the sureties and rule on the matter on 4th January.

The seven face charges of assault, causing grievous harm and malicious damage of property.

Prosecution says the seven, and others still at large assaulted Lawrence Baguma, Ali Arinaitwe, Robert Kikoni, Gordon Mucunguzi, Robert Twinomugisha, Richard Kwesiga and Matsiko Turyakira.

The accused are also said to have destroyed a vehicle, registration number UAF 553S belonging to Kassim Tumusiime.

The suspects have been remanded to Ntungamo Central Prison until 4th January, 2016.
