Ntungamo Campaign Clash Case Set for March 17

The 11 are charged with eight counts of assault, three counts of malicious damage and three counts of causing grievous harm.
The Ntungamo Magistrate's court has this afternoon set March 17, for hearing the case against supporters of independent presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi.

The same court also extended the bail of the 11 suspects to March 17, 2016.

The 11 are charged with eight counts of assault, three counts of malicious damage and three counts of causing grievous bodily harm.

It is alleged they committed the offenses in Ntungamo on December 13, 2015, when they clashed with supporters of the ruling National Resistance Movement party. But they denied the charges.

Court has also maintained the arrest warrant for six Mbabazi's supporters suspected to have participated in the Ntungamo campaign clashes. The six are; Boaz Kumwesiga, Sulait Amanya, Amidu Kamwesiga, Alex Sekeba, Rebson Muhangi and Apollo Asingwire.

Those granted bail extension include: Frank Batemyeto, Ramathan Onzima, Lawrence King Mugabe, Rogers Ndugga, Benon Turyamureba,  Elia Mayinja, Abudulla Kasajja, Jamir Mutebi, George Sebatindira, Asadu Semakura and Frank Kabari.

Represented by their lawyers Onesmus Matsiko, Jonathan Bwagi and Savarino Twinobusingye, they appeared before the fully packed Ntungamo grade one magistrate Richard Ndangwa with their sureties.

Speaking to reporters after the court session, the suspects denied having crossed to the NRM party as earlier alleged.
