The National Unity Platform - NUP has urged its members who feel discontented and have evidence that their aspirations for the party flag were rejected unfairly to file their complaints with the party election management committee not later than today at 4pm.

Last Night NUP released the list of selected flag bearers for local government positions including Lord Mayor, Division Mayors and Councilors.

Some of the key positions include; Latif Ssebaggala Ssengendo for Lord Mayor, Hamdan Ssemugooma for Kampala central mayor, Paul Mugambe for Nakawa division mayor, Kasirye Nganda Ali Mulyanyama for Makindye Division mayor, Zackhy Mberaaze Mawula for Lubaga division mayor and Emmanuel Sserunjoji for Kawempe division Mayor.

Other flag bearers for the entire Wakiso district and the five divisions and municipalities of Kampala were also mentioned in a list released both on the party’s social media platforms and on the noticeboard of the party offices of central region located in Kabuusu Lubaga division.

Meanwhile the released list has already started sparking voices of discontent especially among the so called NUP-People power diehards some of whom have been dropped in the vetting process as they tried to aspire for the party ticket on several positions of councilors.

Joel Ssenyonyi, the party spokesperson has told Uganda Radio Network - URN that the party did all it could to transparently conduct a quick process bearing in mind that time was limited since the unveiling of the party in comparison with the national electoral commission road map.

He says all aggrieved aspirants should lodge their complaints not later than Sunday 20th September at 4pm and must state specific grounds on which the appeals are premised.

He also said that the reason why they had to release the list via online media platforms was to save time for the councilors who have to prepare for their nominations with the EC starting tomorrow Monday morning.
