Odo Tayebwa is the Ishaka-Bushenyi Municipality Member of Parliament elect. Tayebwa was announced elected last evening by Barbra Mulimira, the Bushenyi District Returning Officer at Bushenyi multipurpose hall.
He polled 7048 votes beating his main rival Nasser Basajjabalaba, the former MP by over 2000 votes. Basajjabalaba came second with 5665 votes followed by Robert Bwarare, an independent with 255 votes and Ismail Kakurwe with only 16 votes. Shortly after Tayebwa was declared winner, Professor Elijah Mushemeza, the NRM electoral commission chairperson moved forward and congratulated him amidst cheers from his supporters.
In his victory speech, Tayebwa said that his victory shows that people power is important than money.

Non of the other candidates was around the tally center. The court of appeal ordered fresh elections in Bushenyi Municipality in April after the judges of the court found Nasser Bassajabalaba, the incumbent MP guilty of voter bribery.
