Omoro School Closed Over Violent Student's Strike

As a result, the School Management Committee and Omoro District Education authorities met on Monday to decide a way forward. The school headteacher, Stephen Okumu told this meeting that the meeting resolved to suspend the school programs for two weeks.
Koro Secondary School in Omoro district has been closed following a violent student’s strike.

Senior one and three students rampaged on Sunday evening and vandalized their classrooms, administrative block and school truck to protest corporal punishment by one of their male teachers.

As a result, the School Management Committee and Omoro District Education authorities met on Monday to decide a way forward. The school headteacher, Stephen Okumu told this meeting that the meeting resolved to suspend the school programs for two weeks.  

  He explains that the district engineer and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) are assessing the magnitude of the damage on property before they set a fine for the learners. 

Douglas Peter Okello, the Omoro District LC V Chairperson has condemned the conduct of the students and pledged to ensure that their grievances are sorted. Koro SS is one of the oldest government-aided schools in Omoro district.
