Andrew Kirungi Byakutaaga has been reaffirmed as the substantive Prime Minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.

The confirmation was given by The Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Solomon Gafabusa Iguru, during the coronation anniversary celebrations held at the kingdom palace Karuziika in Hoima town on Monday.

The Omukama's official announcement clears the impasse within the kingdom on the appointment of Byakutaaga as the Kingdom Prime Minister. His appointment, on January 15, 2018, had been contested in court by his Predecessor Norman Lukumu and a number of subjects.

Lukumu contends that he was appointed Kingdom Prime Minister on a five-year term, which started in 2015 and will legally end in 2021.  Lukumu had also counted on a royal declaration from King Solomon Gafabusa Iguru, disassociating himself from the appointment of Byakutaaga as Prime Minister.

Lukumu had also filed an application seeking for an interim injunction sopping Byakutaaga from performing in the capacity of the Kingdom Prime Minister.

But The Omukama told his subjects during the 24th Empango celebrations that all matters of the Kingdom have been handed to Byakutaaga as the Prime Minister.
