One Body of River Aswa Boat Accident Retrieved

One body of the River Aswa boat accident has been retrieved.

The body of Charles Komakech, was retrieved on Thursday afternoon by a team of divers from Uganda Police Marine Unit. It was found some four kilometers away from the scene of the boat accident.

On Monday, Joseph Wafula 35, a Kenyan consultant Engineer and Komakech a resident of Angagura Sub-county went missing on Monday afternoon when their boat capsized in the river.   Wafula was working with SGS Ltd, a consultancy company subcontracted by ARPE Ltd which is constructing water canals for the Achwa 1 hydro-power project.

Two others identified as Douglas Omona, the boat owner and Simon Onena Otinga who were also in the boat survived the accident.

They were checking water levels in the river where Achwa 1 Hydroelectric Power Station, one of the cascades Power stations along the river is being constructed.


Dusman Okee, the Resident District Commissioner Pader says that efforts are on-going to recover the second one.
