Pader District Hands Over Medicine Store Construction Site

Pader District, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, has officially handed over a construction site to Hebron Investments Limited for the establishment of a medicine store at Pajule Health Centre IV. The handover took place on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Dr. Denis Ocaya, the in-charge of Pajule Health Centre IV, emphasized the facility’s role as a referral center in Pader District. He highlighted its importance in conducting laboratory tests, preventing diseases, performing surgeries, providing blood transfusions, and handling emergency cases. 

Dr. Ocaya noted that inadequate infrastructure, including limited space, has affected service delivery. The new store is funded by the Ministry of Health and Global Fund for 737,586,000 shillings. Dr. Ocaya said the construction is set to begin in a week and is expected to be completed within six months.

Tito Okello Brilliant, the LC 3 Chairperson of Pajule Town Council, welcomed the project, and emphasized the need for a consistent drug supply to maximize its benefits. He assured that the local community will support the contractor to ensure quality work during the construction of the facility.

Dr Pamela Achii, health products management specialist, Ministry of Health/Global fund, an official in charge of medicine storage, while handing over the site, explained the importance of proper storage in maintaining drug quality. She urged district officials to oversee the facility’s maintenance and ensure it serves the community effectively.

Pajule Health Center IV serves an estimated population of over 210,000 covering neighboring districts such as Agago, and Kitgum among others. The majority of health complications registered are mainly malaria.
