People Power has launched a 33 member team to mobilise support in the Busoga region.

Addressing the press in Jinja district on Tuesday, Mohammed Musisi, the lead coordinator People Power in Jinja district says that each of the 11 districts within the region will be assigned three district coordinators who shall carry out civic education and massive community sensitization about the people power.

He says that most leaders harbour selfish interests and fail to sensitize the electorates. He says that the public is being misled to treat leaders as problem solvers rather than legislators arguing that such a mindset has kept the region backwards in terms of service delivery.

“Most of our leaders don't legislate in Parliament or even set policies at local government level and because of their selfish interests, they intentionally refuse to conduct civic education living the electorates in the dark side of politics,” he says.

The Democratic Party Chairperson for Kamuli district, Moses Bigirwa who doubles as the people power coordinator in Busoga region says that the team will liaise with other opposition leaders to bolster support.

Bigirwa adds that the team will conduct political activities on a daily basis in a bid to reawaken residents who have been affected by poor service delivery.
