Excessive flooding resulting from the rising water levels in Lake Kyoga, which started last year
has devastated the road network
in Amolatar district. This has affected
businesses and interfered
with people’s livelihoods.
All roads including those under UNRA roads are unmotorable forcing the
community to resort to canoes for transport. Roads such as that leading to Namasale landing site in Namusale sub-county are submerged.
Other roads like that from
Akwon through Otangocinge to Amai Hospital, the only district hospital is impassable. Geoffrey Ocen, the District LCV chairperson says over 65% of the entire road
network in the district is cut off.
