While government is the process of tarmacking Rwekunye-Apac-Lira to Kitgum via Puranga road, motorists have a hard time using the road in its current state.

The road continues deteriorating because of the torrential rains that have been battering the region and heavy trucks using it.

On Saturday morning, traffic was paralyzed after a culvert collapsed at Aroca Swamp in the stretch between Aduku Town Council and Kwania district headquarters.

The poor status of the road is now forcing road users to use the longer route from Teboke-Chegere up to Kole Town Council to connect to Apac, Kole, Lira and Kampala City.

The 30 kilometer road, which is under Uganda National Road Authority-UNRA connects is the main link between Lira, Kwania, Kole and neighboring districts. Several businessmen who talked to Uganda Radio Network on Saturday, say the poor condition of the road is holding back their economic growth and hampering regional trade. URN brings you the situation in pictorial form.
