Hon. Robinah Nabbanja arrives in Amolatar aboard a UPDF chopper
The Prime Minister of Uganda, Hon. Robinah Nabbanja on Sunday visited the flood affected District of Amolatar.
She arrived in the district aboard a chopper was assessing the magnitude of damage as well as following up on the relief food which delivered by the OPM to over 200 persons displaced by floods and currently living in a camp.
Although her interest was to traverse the whole district
by road, her efforts were futile as most roads were submerged in water and thus
impassible.
Since last year, Amolatar district has been
experiencing a number of challenges caused by floods as a result of the rising
water levels of Lake Kyoga.
The floods have destroyed 60% of the District's road
networks, submerged schools and health facilities. Some sub counties are
reportedly completely cut off by the floods.
