Police Boss Shoots Two Intruders Dead

According to Owoyesigyire, Kasibante shot the intruders in self-defense to protect himself and property from the intruders. He says there were five intruders but three of them managed to get away.

The Nansana Police Division Field Force Unit-FFU Commander, Dennis Nyanzi Kasibante shot dead two identified intruders on Saturday, URN has learnt.   

The incident happened in the wee hours of Saturday morning at Nabweru Road. 

The Deputy Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, says the deceased had entered the officer’s home using rudimentary weapons.   

According to Owoyesigyire, Kasibante shot the intruders in self-defense to protect himself and property from the intruders. 

He says there were five intruders but three of them managed to get away.  

“Five thugs attacked the commander of FFU Nansana division they had harmers, sharp knives and master keys. After the attack the two were moving away with the TV set and other items so he acted in defense and two were put out of action,” Owoyesigyire said. 

 

He explains that police has commenced investigations into the matter. There was a one percent increase in house break-ins in the country last year compared to 2017. 

At least 14,018 cases were recorded by the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) in 2018 compared to 13,883 cases in 2017. 

CID detectives took 3,100 cases to court out of which, 815 suspects were convicted, 50 were acquitted, 600 cases were dismissed for lack of witnesses and disappearance of complainants.
