Police on Saturday engaged in running battles with supporters of the Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

UPDF soldiers, uniformed and plain-clothed police officers were seen patrolling different streets in Jinja city as crowds continued to gather.

Kyagulanyi was in Jinja for a political talk show on NBS FM. When his supporters got to know about his presence in the area, they surrounded the radio station premises, prompting police officers to forcefully disperse them.

Police personnel attached to the field force unit were seen firing teargas and live bullets along the streets of Nizam, Mainstreet, Nalufenya and Aldina.

While being escorted out of the radio station, Kyagulanyi told journalists that, he was rallying masses to rise up against human rights violations.

He said that he was also sensitizing the public about the next general elections since they have failed to access civic education due to the COVID-19 lock down.
