Police FC has stopped BUL FC with a 2:0 victory in the Star-Times Uganda Premier League match at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

The game started at a low pace with both teams sharing possession without any serious attack from both clubs.

The police team tried pushing for an early goal when the forward Johnson Odongo tried a shot in the 20th minute through a pass from Tony Mawejje but failed to hit his target.     The hosts also tried unlocking BUL’s defence with striker Brian Muruuli attempting a volley kick but he too failed to hit the target. The game ended in a goalless draw during half time. Bul’s FC lead striker Musa Esenu missed a chance in the 63rd minute to put his team in the lead.

A few minutes after Esenu’s miss, Veteran police Midfielder Tony Mawejje tried to give the hosts a lead through a spots kick in the 18 yards but found BUL’s custodian, Abdul Kimera alert. However, Police FC in-form forward Odongo managed to unlock Bul’s FC defence with a clear shot in the 68th minute.

This energized the police squad, which doubled their lead in the 76th minute with good finishing from forward, Herman Wasswa who came in as a substitute for Muwadda Mawejje credit to Odongo with a good assist. This sealed the fate of the visiting Bul’s FC.

The win puts Police FC on the top of the UPL table with 16 points ahead of Vipers SC with 15 points.  In the other premier league games, Busoga United drew zero all with Bright stars in an early kickoff,  Kitara lost to Mbarara City 1:0, UPDF lost to Onduparaka 1:0 and Vipers SC drew with Kyetume FC 2:2.
