Anti-Riot
police fired live bullets and teargas to disperse
rowdy supporters of National Unity Platform - NUP persidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi wine in Hoima on Wednesday evening.
Kyagulanyi
was blocked together with hundreds of his supporters by police a few meters from Kyentale Primary school in Hoima East
division where he was scheduled to hold a rally.
Police
commanded by Micheal Ongica, the Hoima District Police Commander blocked and
directed Kyagulanyi who arrived in Hoima town from Kibaale at around 6:20PM to
stop leading his procession with hundreds of his supporters to the campaign venue since campaigning time had ended.
This did not
go down well with hundreds of his supporters who started charging at the security
personnel prompting them to fire live bullets and teargas to disperse
the supporters who had turned violent.
This resulted into a
running battle between the supporters and security personnel up to 7:30PM when
the situation came to normal.

Moses Aguda,
the NUP coordinator faults security for allegedly
blocking and failing Kyagulanyi from holding his planned rallies in Hoima district.
Julius
Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says they could not allow
Kyagulanyi hold his rally beyond 6pm as set by the Electoral commission.
He too
warned Kyagulanyi’s supporters to stop being violent and abide by the
guidelines issued to them by security, ministry of health and the Electoral
commission.
Earlier in
the day, police blocked Kyagulanyi from holding rallies at Kibedi Primary school
and Karuguza town council in Kibaale district.
