Police Foils Robbery at National Farmers Federation Offices

Police officers from Wandegeya Police Station reportedly took cover at the offices while waiting for the invaders, who came in at about 9 p.m., only to be surrounded and arrested. Those arrested include Bashiru Okulu, Ayeko Mayo, Vincent Mukasa and Abdul Lubega, all residents of Kampala district.

Police have foiled an attempted robbery at the Uganda National Farmer’s Federation-UNAFFE, offices in Nakasero. The Arrest followed intelligence information indicating that a group of people had planned to break into the said office last night. 

Police officers from Wandegeya Police Station reportedly took cover at the offices while waiting for the invaders, who came in at about 9 p.m., only to be surrounded and arrested.  Those arrested include Bashiru Okulu, Ayeko Mayo, Vincent Mukasa and Abdul Lubega, all residents of Kampala district. 

Wilson Musiho, an employee of the Federation says that the suspects had started vandalizing the company vehicle at the time of their arrest. 

Another source close to UNAFFE told URN that they have registered five cases of similar break-ins, in a space of four years. In 2016 two cars were stolen from the offices, alongside desktops and laptops, while four vehicles were vandalized in 2019 and their radio’s taken. 

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says that the suspects have been detained at Wandegeya police station on holding charges of office breaking and Robbery.
