Police Hunt for Body Snatchers in Iganga

The traditional herbalists are reported to have exhumed the five bodies of Mzee Kabi Kafuwa, Jane Wofwoa, Mutesi Namulondo, Kakaire Kakata and one Kabi who were buried in 2004. All the deceased were members of one family.

Police in Iganga are hunting for unknown people who exhumed five bodies in Makadwa village Makuutu sub county August 4.

 

The traditional herbalists are reported to have exhumed the five bodies of Mzee Kabi Kafuwa, Jane Wofwoa, Mutesi Namulondo, Kakaire Kakata and one Kabi who were buried in 2004.

 

All the deceased were members of one family.

 

The unknown people believed to be traditional herbalists reportedly carried away all the remains of the deceased people.

 

The LC one chairman Makadwa village, Abdalah Adu said they were shocked to discover on Tuesday August 5 that the bodies of the five had been exhumed.

 

He said he suspects the traditional herbalists could have exhumed the dead bodies so as to carry out some cleansing rituals for their clients.

 

The officer in charge CID at Iganga central police station Mathew Otuu said investigations are underway to establish why the traditional herbalists exhumed the bodies which belonged to one family.

 

He said the accused risk being charged for disturbing the peace of the dead in case they are arrested.
