The Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, Nelson Tumushime said the victims were swept by the running water as they attempted to cross the flooded areas.
Police in Kasese have identified the two people who were killed by floods that swept through Kasese municipality on Saturday.
They are Topista Masika, 40, a nurse and a resident of Mumbuzi Cell in Nyamwamba Division and the other is Bright Mumbere 28, a resident of Kikonzo Cell in Central Division.
The Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, Nelson Tumushime said the victims were swept by the running water as they attempted to cross the flooded areas. He added that the bodies had been taken to Kasese Municipality Health Centre III for postmortem.
Tumushime also said that police have carried out rescue missions for persons who had been trapped by the waters in the Kilembe area.
On Saturday floods hit parts of Kasese town after River Nyamwamba burst its banks. The floods affected residents in Nyamwamba Division.
