Police have released the identities of two suspected immature fish dealers shot dead by the Uganda People's Defense Forces  UPDF fisheries enforcement team in Ntoroko district on Sunday.

Lydia Tumushabe, the Rwenzori West Region Police Spokesperson identifies the deceased as Habibu Tofiki and Basaliza Musakimu.

She says the two were shot dead as the UPDF team pursued a Fuso Truck registration number UAY 268V suspected of transporting immature fish through Tooro Semulike Game Reserve from Kanara Landing site at around 3pm on Sunday. 

Tumushabe says in the process of fleeing the arrest, the driver lost control of the truck and veered off the road into a bush where it overturned. 14 other fish traders sustained serious injuries. Some of the injured have been identified as Esther Bonabana, Ever Tumwakire, Aisha Yozonia, Jackline Buswaza, Rehema Nanu and Ndarase Malosi, all residents of Ntoroko. 

They are nursing injuries at different hospitals in Ntoroko district while the bodies of the deceased are at Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital. 

Tumushabe says they have opened at a murder case under CRB 264/2019 at Fort portal police station though no arrests have been made yet.
