Jaffer Magyezi, the Mbarara District Police Commander, says they have launched investigations to establish what could have happened.
Police in Mbarara are investigating the alleged kidnap of Aaron Turahi Wakabiri, the Endizi Sub County National Resistance Movement party chairperson in Isingiro district.

Turahi was allegedly kidnapped by unidentified people from his home in in Katete village in Mbarara town on February 15th and taken to unknown place.

He was found in coma in Rutoto in Bunyaruguru in Rubirizi district on February 27th, 2017. Turahi is currently hospitalised at Mbarara community hospital.

His wife, Edith Turahi told URN that her husband told her that he was held by his kidnappers at unknown place before they later dumped him.

Jaffer Magyezi, the Mbarara District Police Commander, says they have launched investigations to establish what could have happened.

He says they heard about the disappearance of the NRM chairperson as a rumor since the family didn't make any formal complaint on his disappearance.

According to Magyezi, it is Turahi's friends who rushed to police after he was found dumped in Rubirizi district.

He says they are optimistic that the kidnap victim will offer some leads once he recovers fully.

Jeremiah Kamurali, the Isingiro LC V Chairperson, says Turahi's family and friends were worried that he could have been killed.
