Elgon Region police are investigating MP Simon Mulongo for allegedly using body guards to campaign in the NRM primaries. Mulongo is accused by fellow aspirants for intimidating NRM members ahead of primaries.
The Regional Police Commander, James Ruhweza revealed this during a meeting of NRM aspirants for Bubulo East MP seat.

Cue Out:â€¦â€¦..professional standards.â€/// The meeting was called by the Manafwa deputy Resident District Commissioner, Betty Maumbe, following a petition from other aspirants. Maumbe read a letter from one of the aspirants, George William Wopuwa, who reported that Mulongo was intimidating voters.

At the meeting, Mulongo denied the allegations of intimidating voters. He however admitted to being armed and having body guards.
