A police constable in Hoima district is in trouble for shooting two Boda-Boda riders. The suspect is David Kamita, a special police constable attached to Kasingo Police post in Busiisi division in Hoima Municipality.

It all started when a fight broke out between two boda boda riders only identified as Hussein and Agondeza over unidentified woman in Mpaija Village Busiisi division Hoima Municipality on Sunday Night.

The clash attracted dozens of other people who joined the fight. Police received information about the fight and rushed to calm down the fight by firing in the air to disperse the rowdy residents.

The officers also impounded the motorcycles belonging to the two riders and took them to Kasingo police post for safe custody since they had abandoned them during the fight.

However, at 9:30pm on Sunday, Hussein and Agondeza accompanied by other youths stormed Kasingo police post and tried to recover the motorcycles by force.

This led to a bitter exchange of words between the officers manning the police post and the riders forcing Kamita to shoot Hussein and Agondeza in the legs.

The duo sustained injuries and was rushed to Hoima Hospital where they are currently nursing severe wounds.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson, says Kamita was arrested immediately and locked up at Hoima Central police station pending investigations.

He condemned the manner in, which the rowdy youths stormed the police post demanding the release of their motorcycles, saying they were only impounded and taken to the post for safe custody since their owners had abandoned them during the fight.
