A police officer Bright Atumuhire has been remanded to Kigo Prisons for alleged armed robbery.

Atumuhire, commander operations at Kajjansi Police station and another suspect Richard Musinguzi on Wednesday appeared before Entebbe Chief Magistrate Mary Babirye.

Prosecution led by Joan Keko states that on July 8th, together with Musinguzi, Atumuhire attempted to rob 45 million shillings from Tom Kisubika a resident of Busega at Abaita Ababiri.

Atumuhire reportedly intercepted Kisubika who was driving his car registration number UBD 328J. Kisubika, who was previously robbed by the same people, alerted police and a 999 patrol truck was dispatched with some Local Defence Unit (LDU) personnel to rescue him.

Atumuhire and Musinguzi pleaded not guilty to the charges. Babirye ordered the suspects to return to court on August 5th.

Kisubika requested court that he should always be notified on the progress of the case.

He says that he hadn’t been informed when the suspects would appear in court for mentioning of the case.
